European Golden Shoe Race 2018/19 Season(Some Surprising Names)

Europe’s top 5 leagues have already crossed halfway of the season. The leagues in France and Italy are almost decided. Paris Saint Germain looks to reclaim the French League yet again although facing a shameful exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Manchester United‘s Reserve Team. Juventus are the runaway winners of Serie A as they are 19 points clear of second placed Napoli,The Ronaldio effect?. In Spain Barcelona are 7 points clear of the 2nd placed Atletico Madrid. While the leagues in England and Germany are very tight.

Across the season, players from Europe’s top 5 league have been scoring goals for fun. They are competing foe the golden shoe award. Lionel Messi, a midfielder/forward won this award for a record 5th time. Let’s see the Europe’s top 10 scorers of the season 2018/19 list here :

Luis Suarez | Barcelona | 16 goals(32 points)

The Uruguyan striker who has not been in his best of forms this season has still managed to bang 16 goals which includes a hattrick against Real Madrid in the 5-1 win. Suarez,who has previously won golden shoes in couple of occasions in 2014 and 2016 is chasing his third this season.

Harry Kane | Tottenham | 16 goals(32 points)

Harry Kane, probably the best striker in the world at the moment is  in contention of the premier league golden boot award yet again. Tottenham looks to be  a whole different team in his presence. The world cup golden boot winner has netted 16 goals in the league so far this season.

Edinson Cavani | Paris Saint Germain | 17 goals(34 points)

Edinson Cavani is a name in football world which gets among the goals quite often. The Uruguyan has been scoring loads of goals in his career. He continues to hit the back of the net in regular occasions. A member of probably Europe’s fearest strikeforce along with Mbappe and Neymar, Cavani has managed to score 17 league goals this term.

Mohamed Salah I Liverpool I 17 goals(34 points)

The rise of Mohamed Salah has been mesmerizing to watch. He finished last season with Premier League Golden boot award and is in contention to win it again this season with 17 goals in 29 games.

Sergio Aguero | Manchester City | 18 goals(36 points)

What a month of Februrary Aguero just had. In February he scored league goals in 4 appearences including two hattricks against Arsenal and Chelsea. The Manchester City’s all time top scorer has the most hatrricks(11) in the premier league tied with Alan Shearer.

Good luck pronuncing his first name, the boy from Poland has been a surprise package this season. Nobody expected him to do wonders like this at the beginning of the season. He began the season at Genoa where he proved to be a fox in the box. Dubbed as the next Lewandowski, Piatek moved to AC Milan in January and has got off to the mark immidiately challenging Ronaldo for the Serie A top scorer award.

Cristiano Ronaldo | Juventus | 19 goals(38 points)

Cristiano Ronaldo never gets old. Ronaldo went to Italy for new challenges and boy how this man has faced the challenge. The portugese captain has almost already won the league for Juventus with his 19 goals.He is enjoying his life is Italy and is chasing his 5th golden shoe.

Fabio  Quagliarella | Sampdoria | 19 goals (38 points)

The veteran is showing no signs of slowing down with his eye for the goal still very much alive. The veteran has been scoring goals for fun for the past decade and is challenging Cristiano for Italian Golden shoe this term.

Kylian Mbappe | Paris Saint Germain | 24 goals(48 points)

The forever 19 year old golden boy who finally turned 20, from france has been in steller form from the past 3 seasons. The world cup winner has 24 goals in the league already this term and is only going to add to his tally. Some people may claim scoring is France is much easir than La Liga and Premier league but the young boy is doing very fine and is only going to get better.

Lionel Messi | Barcelona | 25 goals(50 points)

Lionel Messi, the  5th best player in the world has been scoring goals for fun for the past 12 years. Messi has been the victim due to lack of creative players in Barcelona’s midfield. He is seen dropping deep into midfield for creating chances for his teamates and is still seen getting among the goals so often. Messi has 25 league goals in 23 appearences so far this season,not bad for the fifth best player in the world.
